Rescue Program Overview
The
Siberian Husky Club & Rescue of Southern
New England’s
Rescue Program is an organization whose goal is to find
permanent, loving homes for displaced Siberian Huskies in need.
Utilizing the power of the internet and networking with other rescue
groups, animal shelters, animal control authorities and private owners, we
locate homes for displaced Siberian Huskies within Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Siberians in the Rescue Program may range in age from the very rare puppy
- to the more common mature dog - to the occasional senior citizen.
All
dogs taken into the program must meet the American Kennel Club’s criteria
confirming a purebred Siberian Husky. If
you want to place your Siberian Husky for adoption with the rescue program
he/she must be a purebred Siberian with no other breed in its lines! The rescue program can help you determine if your dog is in
fact a purebred Siberian.
If
your Siberian Husky has bitten anyone, or other animals, you must truthfully
notify the Rescue Program of this fact.
This issue may not disqualify your Siberian Husky from being accepted
into the Rescue Program. Proper training and re-establishing trust between the
Siberian and humans may resolve this problem.
The Rescue
Program may be able to offer foster care until a Siberian can be placed
permanently. We may offer possible
solutions to problems Siberian owners are encountering with which may allow
their Siberian to stay with their owner. One
of our goals is to educate those who feel they may need to surrender a Siberian,
and prospective Siberian owners, of the specific needs of the breed.
Careful
screening of every prospective adopter is accomplished utilizing questionnaires,
telephone interviews, and home-site inspection.
It is of the utmost importance that every Siberian be placed in a
permanent, friendly, loving environment to assure a compatible match between
Siberian and new owner.
Donations
are always welcome. If you wish to
make a contribution, please make checks payable to the Siberian Husky Club & Rescue of Southern
New England (SHCR-SNE) and mail your contribution to:
SHCR-SNE,
16 Tomahawk Tr., Sandy Hook, CT 06854
.
Small donations are appreciated as much as large ones.
Whether $5.00 or $1,000.00 or more it will help defray the costs of
maintaining Siberians in the program. Overhead includes: veterinary care,
transportation, equipment, supplies, postage, telephone costs, and paperwork. The Siberian Husky Club & Rescue of Southern New England is a
500 (c) (3) tax exempt organization.
