What Is The Siberian Husky Club & Rescue of Southern New England ?

We are a dog club serving the needs of, and providing activities for, Siberian Husky fanciers of all ages. Our objectives are to do all possible to bring the natural qualities of the purebred Siberian to perfection and create a family oriented dog club to encourage Siberian owners of all ages to get involved with their dogs in club sponsored events. Club goals included: encouraging responsible selective procreation of Siberians by breeders; educating club members and the general public of the standards of the breed as approved by The American Kennel Club; protecting and advancing the interests of the breed through a "Code of Ethics" for club members; and encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, sled dog races, obedience trials and other dog related events as may be appropriate for the breed. Our Rescue Program's goal is to find permanent, loving homes for displaced Siberian Huskies in need. We offer possible solutions to problems Siberian owners are encountering which may allow their Siberian(s) to stay with their owner. This includes educating those who feel they may need to surrender a Siberian, and prospective Siberian owners, of the specific needs of the breed.

 Where Are The Meetings Held?

Regular Membership Meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Sunday of April and October and are held at Saint Patrick's Church in Redding, Connecticut. Meeting Notices will be mailed to you, emailed to you, and posted on the Club's Website, in advance of each meeting. (Meetings are for people only - no dogs are allowed unless they are part of the meetings program.)

What do I have to do to become a member?

Before applying, find out if the club is right for you by getting to know some of the members. Participate in club sponsored activities.  Don't sit on the sidelines - step up and pitch in!  If you have a special skill, please volunteer.  If you have questions, ask them.  Get involved!

In the meantime, be sure to read the club's "Code of Ethics", "Release and Waiver of Liability", and "Constitution and By-Laws".  Then, if you decide you would like to join, fill out an application. You need to have your application signed by two club members who agree to sponsor you.  After your sponsors have signed your application, and you have signed the club's "Code of Ethics" and "Release and Waiver of Liability", submit all three to the club's Membership Chair along with your membership fee.

Your name, plus the names of your sponsors, will be made available to all club members and the Board of Directors.  After a six month trial period, during which you should be participating in club sponsored activities, your application will be reviewed by and voted on by the club's Board of Directors and you will be notified of their decision.
