Why not get more out of hiking with your Siberian?

Do you want to learn how to Pack too?

Packing with your Siberian can be an excellent activity for both of you and is ideally suited for the one-dog owner. It is easy to train your Siberian to pack. The equipment needs are minimal, especially if you are already a hiker or backpacker. Hiking trails can be found almost everywhere and as you know Siberians love to get out on the trail!

We have a very informative program planned at our Fall Membership Meeting presented by Sheila Blanker that I am sure you will find very interesting. Sheila, who lives in Massachusetts, is a Dr. of Veterinary Medicine and Eastern Representative for the Siberian Husky Club of America (SCHA) Working Pack Dog Program (WPD) committee. A proud owner of Siberians since 1981, Sheilas joy of hiking with her Siberian led her to becoming a packing enthusiast. Additionally, Sheila has since retired from Rescue after being involved for ten years through the Yankee Siberian Husky Rescue Service, which evolved into Patriots Patriot Siberian Husky Rescue (our Rescue friends to the north of us).

Sheila will be introducing us to the SHCA performance program, which recognizes the achievements of Siberian Huskies participating in verifiable hiking trips as an active member of the hiking party. Siberian Huskies in this program may compete for two titles: Working Pack Dog (W.P.D.) and Working Pack Dog Excellent (W.P.D.X.)

Looking forward to seeing you there!

R.S.V.P. Please confirm by return email that you will be able to attend to secretary@siberianrescue-sne.org by October 1st, so that we can ensure that we have enough copies of presentation material for you to take home. And enough seats!

Reminder: Meetings are for people only - no dogs are allowed unless they are part of the meetings program.)
